En un intento de mejorar su imagen ecológica, BMW ha lanzado como complemento a sus automóviles serie i, las bicicletas eléctricas plegables, i Pedelec.
Las i Pedelec se recargan cuando están plegadas y colocadas en sus bases en el maletero del coche. Alcanzan una velocidad de 25Km/h por lo que no es necesario ningún tipo de licencia para manejarlas ni es necesario utilizar casco, y tienen una autonomía de 30-35Km aproximadamente.
Unas 200 i Pedelec se utilizarán como parte de la flota automovilística en los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2012, de la que BMW es el único proveedor de vehículos. In an attempt to improve their green image, BMW has launched as a complement to their i3 series, a pair of folding electric bikes,called i Pedelec.
The i Pedelec are recharged when they are folded and placed at their bases in the trunk of the car. They reach a speed of 16mph so there is no need to get any license to handle them and the rider dose not have to use a helmet, and has a range of about 20 miles aprox.
Around 200 i Pedelec will be deployed as part the vehicle fleet supporting the 2012 Olympics in London, for which BMW is the sole vehicle supplier. You can read more about their specs in BMW web page, or in case of visiting London, you can go to their first i Store on Park Lane.
